- friendly, fun culture, nice coworkers - smart, caring founders that listen, provide feedback, and take action - good benefits (health, dental, vision, 401k match, PTO, stipends) - great work life balance - nice perks (free mattress, employee discount, catered lunches, snacks, coffee) - healthy, manageable workload, can be busy, but not extremely stressed - lots of opportunities for career growth, learned a ton

- not very competitive pay - hybrid work schedule (2 days/wk in office, but might have changed, can be seen as a pro for some)

I was with Helix for about six weeks before I was laid off. That was an unpleasant surprise, but I also noticed that almost all the other employees hit by the layoff were women who were heads of their respective teams, as the founders "took back some duties" until finances stabilized, I guess. Combined with murmurs of a boys club culture I heard at some coffee dates with other employees and the fact that they laid off someone at eight months pregnant a year later, a picture starts to form.
