As a rookie you’re assigned a territory that consists mostly of doctors who are on the brink of retirement or they’re so cheap that senior reps stopped seeing them. It’s your job to go visit them and essentially be the boots on the ground to see if the office even exists anymore and maybe have them order children’s toothpaste from you. Pay is low so if you’re a salesperson who wants to make serious commissions, don’t come here and just head towards med device or a manufacturer. Takes 2-5 years to actually make money. I worked a doctor who actually ended up retiring and selling the practice, talked the new doc into a complete remodel and then got laid off because of covid. 6 figure remodel and I never saw a dime of it.
