Vantaggi

At Highwire you get the chance to work with up and coming tech startups while they are coming up. As a junior level employee, I could see my work make a real impact on their business which is rare for when you are in the first three years of work at an agency. The client work experience is invaluable and I’d also give training high marks. Management is smart, experienced and disciplined for the most part. Their training on traditional and nearly lost skills had gone a long way in my career and they were willing to invest in training on the PR practices that were changing, writing and new manager courses. You might work late if you’re in an east coast office because more people are on the west coast but Work life balance was doable because they understood remote work needs before the pandemic.

Svantaggi

Cons are the same as any agency. Clients and talent get bored so there’s turnover. My advice for anyone getting distracted by turnover drama is to focus on what and who you like, challenge yourself and your team to brainstorm and learn more so no one gets bored.

Vantaggi

- One of the few companies that have kept their DEI initiatives. - Hybrid schedule

Svantaggi

Whew! Where do I start? - PR management seems to be fine, but if you’re on the digital side…good luck. - No clear career path. - This company is always hiring, but over the past year they’ve quietly laid off dozens of people. - There’s extreme favoritism. Some folks who leave on their own accord get a full send off and even a happy hour toast while I learned others were gone via a company-wide email sent after they had already left. - They don’t value humans. Ever since they got a holding company involved, it’s only about the bottom line. The company is bleeding money so they get rid of people to try to patch the wound. - The culture used to be great apparently, but in the last 2 years, it’s really gone downhill. - They keep PRing you like everything is fine, then another round of firings happen. You never know if you’re on the chopping block. Everyone is on edge all the time never knowing if you’re next. - Overworked, underpaid, zero guidance.
