Fun to dress in Colonial garb and interact with visitors from around the world. Get to be educational and entertaining. Really keep up your acting chops and improv skills, as you're always "on" Get to delight people from around the world, as this gig is essentially street theater.

The heat. But they warn you about that when you audition. You're in historically accurate dress, consisting of long sleeves and multiple layers of fabric during the hot summer months and most shifts are outdoors. The pay. The hours. Often shifts are only a few hours long in the middle of the day, making it difficult for someone to get another part-time job to make ends meet. Or they add another shift in the evening, where you are off the clock for a few hours and unless you live close, you basically take an hours-long dinner break without pay, or unsuccessfully try to sleep in the dressing room.
