Vantaggi

It's not every day you encounter incredible leadership. The co-founders, Ernie and Ira, plus COO, Michael, inspired a vision that people wanted to be a part of. Without them, the company simply is not what it once was. As others have said, the replacing leadership team is out-of-touch with the problems to be solved, the client's and their needs, and most noticeably, the employees. Where people once felt heard, encouraged, and inspired, leadership now operates through "my way or the highway" mentality and narrow-mindedness. A company that was once built on relationships and collaboration now fires people for having a differing opinion (dubbing it "reluctance to change"). The Homebot I knew and loved truly was an amazing place - and I was always one of the first to bleed pink and sing their praises. Homebot* (with an asterisk) is a different place. The reality is, when compared to other companies, Homebot* still has a lot of pros, the top being the people themselves (for the most part, Homebot* knows how to find and hire great talent). If you are able to separate yourself from the BS, you could be very happy. That said, this isn't the OG Homebot and, just like in the movies, the sequel is never better than the original. The positive reviews of the past, while under original leadership, heavily juice up the current rating displayed here and should not be relied upon as the current state of the union. Interesting to see the rapid decline of CEO-approval in only 3 months (previously 90%+ under Ernie, now nose-diving to 50% under the current CEO). I hope the Homebot* team is taking this seriously and providing appropriate training to the leaders who need it. Perception is reality. It would be foolish to continue to think others are the problem, instead of looking within.

Svantaggi

An out-of-touch leadership that's in control of salaries/promotions for people they don't directly manage leaves hardworking, smart individuals deserving of more completely forgotten about. Homebot will not be successful without its people, especially the good ones, yet the people leadership is choosing to "double down on" leave little confidence they are aware of what is needed for the future of the company. If you're "old blood", it's time to start looking elsewhere. In the time I've started writing this review a few weeks ago, 3 more people have been let go.

Thank you for your review. As a former employee, we very much value and appreciate your feedback. Since our founding in 2016, we’ve placed an emphasis on making Homebot a great place to work and that continues to be our focus today. Through intentional and transparent leadership, we’ve cultivated a team of Homebotters that have a high professional capacity and a command for their skill. As you mentioned, we find and hire great people and we continue to create an environment that retains our incredible talent. While change is never easy, it’s a necessary component to a high-growth company such as ours. We will take your feedback into consideration as we move forward. Thank you once again for taking the time to leave us your review and best of luck in your future endeavors.

Vantaggi

- The people, the people, the people - Homebot does an incredible job hiring like-minded and driven people. It makes the work environment so much more enjoyable. - Flexibility & freedom - There is no micromanaging (at least on my team) and you're treated as adults who can get your work done on your own time, for the most part. - Opportunity to work directly with the C-Suite as well as all other departments given the size of the company (feels a bit like a start-up if that's your vibe)

Svantaggi

- Frequent change of leaders - While I know this isn't the case for all teams, my team has been through numerous leadership changes over the last few years which has felt like a bit of whiplash. - Real estate market - Not a great time to be a tech vendor in this space. Much of the company's success has to do with how the market is performing, which can feel very out of your control. - A nice to have product, not a need to have - Speaks for itself, but has made growing as a company difficult given the market conditions. - Middle tier salaries - Homebot can't compete with the salaries of their competitors and other companies in the real estate tech space.

None, unless you like the color of their numerous red flags.

Svantaggi

Homebot presents itself as a promising startup, but in my experience, it has undergone significant changes over the years that have impacted its culture and operations. During my tenure, I felt that leadership—particularly the CEO—tended to prioritize individuals based on how directly they could contribute to his goals (at your expense). This sometimes created an environment where passionate employees, including those from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds (I am unable to specify which of these groups I occupy or Glassdoor will discard this review. DEI not allowed here I guess?), felt valued primarily for their output rather than supported holistically. Earlier on, that passion did help drive the company forward. However, around 2023, following a private equity acquisition and leadership changes, the company shifted direction. This included layoffs and restructuring that, from my perspective, reduced opportunities for employee input and autonomy. Several colleagues I respected, particularly those who were vocal or brought independent thinking, were let go during this period. (and they were the inverse of nice about it too, though I can only attest anecdotally and represent no generalizations). Since leaving, I’ve continued to hear mixed (see: not good) feedback from current employees and public reviews that suggest ongoing challenges with culture and leadership alignment. Based on my experience, I would encourage prospective employees to carefully evaluate whether the company’s direction and environment align with their expectations and values. [Per Glassdoor's request, I ctrl-c ctrl-v'd my original review right into chatgpt.com and had it sanitize the input to bypass digital filters. Minor editorialization added in post. Guess this is just the world we live in now, huh?]
