Vantaggi

Honda does their best not to lay anyone off, even in the toughest of times. Can't get fired unless you don't show up to work or do something offensive to someone else Great benefits package + pension plan Challenging Work that provides the opportunity to expand your skill level in many areas

Svantaggi

Absolutely ZERO growth opportunity. Been in the same position for 10 years with great evaluations. Unless the position exists somewhere in the plant, forget about being promoted. Watch your friends at other companies pass you by on the promotion and pay scale. We are underpaid when you look at experience level, education level, and position in the company. The interesting part is ATSs get OT. When you have OT and get a bonus, you are making close to the pay you should be making. However, when OT is cut to save money, you are desperately underpaid until you get it back. Compare that to another company where ATS level workers are salary and don't get OT. Pay is fair and doesn't fluctuate. Turnover has been awful lately because of the two issues listed above. Because so many people are leaving, more work gets dumped on everyone else. Overworked and underpaid is not a good combination that many are willing to put up with for long, hence, more turnover. As mentioned in the "pros" section, it is very difficult to get fired. This seems to work two ways. There are several bums that would be fired if they were working anywhere else. Instead of getting rid of these workers, they park them to the side and overload the harder workers. Again, another morale booster for the hard workers. Management, especially middle management, seems to be so overworked that a lot of communication and smaller (but still important) items fall to the wayside, which in turn reduces morale of those beneath them. Turnover has produced another issue, which is lack of skill level. We have lost MANY great employees simply from pay, growth opportunity, and being overworked. It takes about a year to become somewhat useful in your role and about 3 years to become proficient. So, a loss of a 6-10 year veteran is one heck of a blow to the particular department. Right now, they are just plugging holes when people leave and the skill level is not there, and won't be there for several years. What happens if things don't change and those people leave. If skill level is to remain high, pay and growth opportunity have got to change. If not, all you will be left with is the bums you can't fire and all of your hard workers that can get other jobs because of their ability and experience will leave.
