- Racism towards local employees: There is no trust between Chinese employees and the local, some meetings are organized only between Chinese. I have been working on projects in which the local colleagues were not aware of the development of the project because the Chinese colleagues would not include them in the email exchanges. - Heavy processes: There is a process for everything, sometimes only in Chinese. The request has to be explained again and again to N+1 level... It's time and energy consuming... - No balance between private and professional life: Some departments are in the office on Saturday, trainings are organized during the weekend and as many say in the company: “Overtime is the culture of Huawei". - Poor language skills: English is said to be the official working language of the company; however, the level of English is extremely poor, processes and emails are only available in Chinese from a certain level. In the high management, some are unable to speak French, Dutch, and their English is so poor, sometimes even impossible to understand. - Poor management skills: The new management team is worrying… I had to explain how to manage project to my manager… Everything was urgent and last minute. For example, that meeting that was organized at 17.00 from 18.00 to 22.00 on a Friday. - Worthless values: They are written everywhere in the office, but you won’t experience them… Except for one: customer first (after the CEO though). Respect is non-existing and “thank you” is rare. There is no space for openness nor initiative, you have to follow the process. I won’t even talk about integrity. As of team work, it applies only between locals or between Chinese. Huawei’s HR strategy is quite superficial: if you want to leave, they will offer a raise; if you are reluctant to join, they will offer a “good salary”.

+ Colleagues: I have met wonderful colleagues and created good friendships. I still see some of them and it is always a pleasure to have a small drink with them!
