The company’s culture has shifted to focus heavily on performance. A few years ago, HubSpot put real effort into being one of the “Best Places to Work” and regularly landed in the top 10 or 20. But that’s changed. Now, there’s more pressure around hitting metrics like “green squares,” which has led to burnout and a noticeable dip in morale. The recent layoffs didn’t help either—mixed messages around them left people feeling uneasy, and the company’s reputation took a hit. On top of that, changes to the vacation policy added more uncertainty at a time when people were already on edge. In the past year alone, close to five people on my team have left—most of them senior—further impacting team stability and morale.
