This review is my opinion, but I think others share some of these views. I left this company on my own accord due to unhappiness primarily with the culture and management. Company owners/managers appear to have little integrity or trust. For instance, I am fairly certain that the most recent review was disingenuously written by management posing as a former employee (listing no personal experiences, no cons/advice, and posting from the office location, no less). I could be wrong but it is misleading. I don’t feel that the managers are unkind or ill intentioned, but rather seem out-of-touch. They claim they are people-first and working to improve the culture but I have not observed much meaningful progress over the course of a year. Hyperikon was once a very fun and driven place to work. Unfortunately, after certain events and changes, that seemingly fell apart with no warning or explanation. Since then, I feel that the culture has gone severely downhill and has revealed shortcomings. It became a depressing place to work. Several people have left (most voluntarily) and have not really been replaced, which increased workload and worsened morale. Some effort was made to bring back perks that were removed but in my opinion, nothing that brought about real, lasting, positive change despite continuous suggestions and efforts by employees. Morale seems to remain at a deep deficit. I felt demotivated and unappreciated. Beyond that: -Management appeared fairly inexperienced in terms of actual managerial skills, providing little guidance or goals to help employees progress -Compensation is not great for the amount of responsibility and company revenue. In my experience, they did not follow through on raise/promotion expectations despite good performance and gave vague reasons to justify this. -I received no formal training or learning/development opportunities -Minimal PTO, no working from home allowed -Poor (often unprofessional) communication and transparency -I perceived no long-term vision or mission for the company -There seems to be an unspoken expectation for employees to work overtime. Leaving at 5pm is uncommon -Current office location is bad with long commutes, but may be moving downtown.
