Vantaggi
High initial pay but expect to receive pay-decreases during organizational changes. The CFO is the only decent leader at this company.
Svantaggi
Everyone has one foot out the door. Would not recommend seriously considering Icon for employment at this point in time. The only positive reviews are from the executives and that should tell you something. The workplace here is heavily influenced by office politics, making it challenging to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Many engineers and technicians find themselves working long hours, historically six or more days a week is often expected. Raises and promotions are rare, often favoring the CEO's friends through nepotism. In the past six months, most technicians have experienced pay cuts, and there's a lack of clear job roles, allowing management to assign tasks without fair compensation. Employees are sometimes fired abruptly without proper documentation or explanation. This paired with chronic safety violations and Icon is on the path towards a big lawsuit in a couple of years. There have been multiple large layoffs in the past year and a half, leaving critical positions unfilled. The employee equity program isn't favorable, considering the company's struggling business outlook. The CEO's leadership has lost its ability to inspire and motivate, seemingly avoiding the reality of the company's declining culture, business prospects, and slowing innovation. The COO fosters a toxic environment by tolerating abusive behavior among subordinates, while the CTO lacks the necessary technical expertise to effectively manage development schedules and priorities. Overall, the company culture is hostile, with blame often unfairly placed on employees by higher-ups. The CEO organizes exclusive company retreats for a select few employees, keeping them secret from the rest of the staff, which negatively impacts morale.
