Compensation is OK but below market. Benefits are subpar. PTO is generous. You have the opportunity to travel all across the United States and work with some great people. There is somewhat of a brotherhood among the field employees, basically organically formed due to the growing frustration towards management and executives.
Svantaggi
Constant restructuring of the company, including pay structure and job titles. Almost no promoting from within. Training and development program is a joke. They tell you they want to develop you to move up within the company then make excuses to stop it from happening. Company hires outside people from different industries for management positions based on certain credentials they hold, instead of moving up loyal, QUALIFIED employees from within. I’ve seen this happen NUMEROUS times. Can be fired for any reason, even if they don’t like you, and yes they use a ridiculous personality test to judge you on. Work/Life balance is almost non-existent. Can be on a flight heading across country with less than 3 hours notice. Constantly traveling. Multiple meetings/phone calls everyday with PM’s, clients, directors, customers. Weekly meetings where management/executives ask field employees for feedback and areas to improve but people are either afraid to say anything due to fear of getting fired or because management listens to NO ONE. You are technically working from the time you wake up until the time you go to sleep. Then while you sleep, you have nightmares that you’re still working. Chain of command is ridiculous with about 5 different “bosses”, who all tell you something different. ZERO communication between management which leads to multiple phone calls/emails because everyone thinks they are the boss. An unbelievable amount of snobby, egotistical, know-it-all, executive level management (Directors) who push productivity over safety and micro-manage EVERYTHING, with almost no knowledge of what is actually going on. HR department is a complete JOKE. Absolutely ZERO trust in their Field Engineers/Supervisors, who are basically the Project Managers. With that being said, the actual Project Managers really don’t do anything, and virtually have no idea what is going on and have ZERO technical knowledge about how the work is even performed. The company’s website states “ We thrive on our pursuit of Excellence, while maintaining a family centered work life balance”. They might strive for excellence but there is absolutely no truth in the second part of that sentence. The company also states how it was voted one of the best places to work in Connecticut, this is due to the fact that HR basically forced everyone to vote in the interest of the company. This is completely false and I can guarantee that there is not a single employee who thinks this is a good company to work for. Everyone is either leaving or on their way out. In summary, you’re basically always out of town, you wake up to do the same exact thing every day, you have almost zero responsibility with the exception of maintaining productivity and safety, you have about 5 “bosses” that email/call you from sun up to sun down, and every one of them micro-manages you, and you constantly have to worry about being fired.
