A lot of senior management have poor skills and are interested in their own status, not the good of the organisation. This means no vision and a lot of politics. In turn they create a negative culture that encourages staff to attack each other.

I can say as a PMM, I've worked at companies where teams were not at all self-sufficient and unnecessarily demanding. This experience was the complete opposite which was a refreshing, welcome change for me. I will miss working with the teams at this company.
