Vantaggi
IQPC Exchange is a great place to start your career in sales. If you are entry level out of college, or have no sales experience, you can begin working in Delegate Sales in which you will learn the ins and outs of prospecting and closing. You also get a good idea about what it feels like working in a professional office environment, working with several teams within the office, and understanding how to increase and maintain your personal sales numbers. Some pros about IQPC: - you get to travel to the events in which you work- cool places like San Diego, Washington DC, Miami, Austin, Dallas, Chicago- and stay in great hotels. - Because IQPC is a global organization, you have the ability to network with colleagues outside of your home country, and employees in good standing with superb qualities are able to travel to other offices around the world. - The Culture Club puts together great events each quarter- things like going to the Horse Races, bowling, field days, murder mystery lunches, and the annual Holiday Party in December. This allows the entire company get to know each other rather than feeling a bit siloed on each team within the office. - Everyone is super friendly in the office and willing to offer a helping hand. You have to be able to work with each of the teams- DA, Sponsorship, Production, Marketing, Operations, and Finance in order to successfully deliver an Exchange. The office does this well- especially since a lot of the same people work on the same types of events, so you really get to know each other. - Team atmosphere- each of the teams have their own sub culture- I would say that DA reps have a lot of fun with one another- they go out to happy hours, go out together on the weekends, and overall the employees are always willing to help the new kid on the team- after all, we have all been that person at some point in time. - Office improvements- recently, the office was given a poll/ survey as to how to improve the office. Management listened and has started delivering: new lunch tables in the break room, an added enclosed meeting space, PTO given at the beginning of the year instead of pro- rated throughout the year, etc.
Svantaggi
When I started, office culture was a lot different, and upper management was avoided by employees. Throughout my time at IQPC things seem to have changed a bit- management is friendlier, willing to listen to the needs of the employees, etc. Culture within IQPC has changed (for the better) drastically and as I mentioned above, employees are willing to offer a helping hand all the time. Not necessarily a “con” now, but previous circumstances made it so. As you may read in other reviews, IQPC is 90% a sales organization. Even if you aren’t in a “sales” role, you’re always going to be doing some aspect of sales in other roles like: Production (selling your event to speakers), Marketing (getting the best value possible for any marketing materials) and Operations (working with hotel and banquet staff to keep the costs down while still making the event the best in can be). This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, unless you don’t have the personality to be in a sales role. It’s not for everyone. Overall, this office isn’t perfect but there is plenty of money to be made if you keep your head down and work hard. Hopefully management keeps listening to its employees and improving office conditions.
