Vantaggi

-Extremely easy to get hired in a pinch -Very relaxed work environment -Jobs for seniors and people with disabilities -Pay is enough for a single person's living expenses -Benefits cover all your bases -There's a lot to do right now due to being backed up from current events, so the work is plentiful and employment stable. -Location is drivable from most parts of town -People are really friendly, if sometimes strange.

Svantaggi

-Absolute disaster of organization. No departments are in coordination with one another, so you often have to push and investigate the motives behind conflicting instructions. -My job is actually pointless and the counting/sorting of forms can be easily automated. A few good software engineers are worth a thousand hourly clerks. -Horrendous procedure documentation, or none at all in most cases. -As a result of hiring literally anyone, the environment is very punitive. You are not trusted to be an autonomous adult with proper breaks, days off or even internet access. -Worst of all, there are no channels for feedback with these issues. Managers, supervisors and others I've gone to in an effort to fix various things just kind of shrug and carry on. There's an element of futility from being part of an organization so big it eclipses every individual's actions.

Vantaggi

-Got me started in my career as an auditor -thorough tax law training -many senior auditors helping you learn the profession

Svantaggi

-communication from management is not always transparent -when you are at the bottom of the ladder, you get verbal abuse from not only POA and taxpayers (understandable, given this is the IRS), but also management/OJI's. They want to look good to their bosses and will throw you under the bus if they have to in order to save themselves. Even if they gave you instructions that got you in trouble. They SHOULD be supporting you in your function as an auditor, but they'll do whatever is easiest for themselves ultimately. -on job training can be disorganized -bureaucratic culture -like many other companies, a lot of things you're expected to learn by yourself. Such as how to avoid POA delays.
