You learn how to look busy while doing absolutely nothing productive." 3. You get to witness corporate incompetence at its finest—live and unfiltered!- this will happen when you brief your immediate superior (first appraiser) on any issue. Note: it is worse when you brief the member of "management" (second appraiser).

A few of the many cons of working in ITC Limited’s Corporate Legal Department 1. Utter Disregard for Employee Welfare – There is no HR to address basic concerns about leaves, work-from-home policies, pay slips, etc. Not even a single HR induction takes place. Departmental disputes are handled solely by your reporting manager, who conveniently considers only the “concerns” of the other side. The situation is so dire that employees are transferred—both within the same office and across cities—without genuine consent. Full disclosure: consent is technically obtained, but only after being vitiated by duress. 2. A Dictatorial Management Style – The so-called "management" runs the legal department like a dictatorship. The general counsel, deputy general counsels, senior assistant general counsels, and assistant general counsels take unlimited sick leaves, work-from-home days, and annual leaves, yet juniors are not allowed to arrive even 15 minutes late. If you take a sick leave, you must send an email to the entire department stating: "XYZ is on sick leave today." Because public humiliation is apparently part of the job. 3. Unequal Workload Distribution – The senior members of the team work the least, while juniors are expected to compensate. Occasionally, juniors are “invited” to the office on Saturdays under the pretense of learning the work. Additionally, they are not allowed to leave until their superiors (and their superiors’ superiors) have left for the day. 4. A Pay Disparity Larger Than the Grand Canyon – Lateral hires are paid peanuts compared to campus recruits. Because fairness, apparently, is not part of ITC's corporate policy. 5. A Hub of Office Politics and Gossip – Expect backstabbing, relentless gossip, and a toxic environment where whisper networks thrive more than actual teamwork. Conclusion If you are currently employed at a law firm or are a law student, do not dream of joining ITC Limited. Your expectations will far exceed the grim reality. Your bosses will ensure that your self-confidence hits rock bottom, your peace of mind evaporates, and your life revolves around nothing but breathing and speaking ITC. P.S. If you’re trying to escape a toxic work culture, this is the last place you should interview for.
