There are no defined expectations or guidance on how to succeed or grow within the organization. Toxic Work Culture: Open communication and constructive feedback are discouraged; raising concerns is often met with punitive responses. Fear-based management creates a culture where employees feel compelled to keep their heads down rather than collaborate or innovate. Idea Misappropriation: Some managers adopt a “seagull” approach—swooping in to take credit for others' ideas without acknowledgment. Original contributions are not consistently recognized or rewarded. Lack of Career Advancement Opportunities: There is no clear career development path or mentorship to help employees understand how to progress. Promotions and advancement appear arbitrary, lacking transparency and fairness. Poor Communication & Opacity: Major organizational decisions are often made behind closed doors with little to no communication to staff. Employees are frequently left uncertain about their role in the company’s long-term plans. Fear based leadership Disregard for Employee Value: During key transition meetings, employees were told they were “disposable,” setting a demoralizing tone. This sentiment undermines trust and long-term employee commitment. Training & Development Barriers: Getting approval for job-relevant training or courses is an unnecessarily difficult process. Requests are often met with repeated delays, excessive bureaucracy, and lack of support from leadership. Leadership Focus Misaligned: Some managers emphasize their own credentials and accomplishments rather than fostering team success or support.
