Vantaggi
It was a full time job in a creative industry which is hard to come by. The work is honestly amazing, and there are some truly life changing moments you can experience through it. Travel is a wonderful fringe benefit when it's not a disruption to your health and life.
Svantaggi
An aggressive, sustained norm of refusing feedback and cultivating a "my way or the highway" culture with the management/leadership. I felt like negative reinforcement was employed to get optimal results out of workers, which is a recipe for burnout and resentment. Additionally, the creative staff is expected to travel often for client work but what isn't emphasized is that you had to front the money for expenses and get reimbursed afterward. In short, you're giving the company a zero interest loan to work. This is an unnecessary burden for employees that are financially vulnerable and it never felt like you could bring this up without being treated as a burden. It took a lot of people quitting/being fired for the company to actually make the effort to assist with this. Lastly, a lack of trust in employees led the owner to engage in some very abusive behavior with me. She used the company's legal resources to try to force me into some unethical work arrangements. I never felt more traumatized by an employer as I have with this company, and I finally have the clarity and peace of mind to be able to talk about this. I can say that if you need the paycheck and can hold your tongue to make sure it's secured, by all means work here. But a lot of the benefits don't weigh enough to offset the toxicity that sits underneath the company culture. I feel like this, among other external factors, is the company's weakest point.
