Like most companies, your just a number. Morel is low with most employees, nothing is done to improve it. When it comes to safety, the company work on a protective safety culture with strict policies that if anything goes wrong, the blame is passed onto the employee. I feel this implements two main items, firstly the company don't need to spend money on remedial actions because policies are written as such that the blame can be passed on to the employee and the local management aren't held accountable. Secondly safety only goes cosmetically safe, if it looks like they are making the effort then it must be safe, I'm not saying the areas that we work at aren't safe, but its minimal. Disability. If you have a registered disability you will be treated the same as everyone else meaning like a perfectly healthy person, these employers use the Braford Factor religiously and don't accommodate those who are less fortunate who have chronic illnesses. I guess its there way to get the weak out and keep the strong, the Bradford Factor at IMERYS forces employees to attend work even when they are dangerously at risk of compromising there recovery specially if they are suffering from a disability. Disadvantage is a understatement. There are a ot of employees who suffer with learning difficulties that struggle to keep up with the developing world, when this is mentioned to higher management, it seems as if they want to single people out and using the excuse of can't help if they don't know who these individuals are, this poses problems in the sense of embarrassment and intimidation.
