good place to work and grow my career

No cons from my experiences there
Vantaggi
I’ve worked in a few environments where professional development is basically a link to a slide deck and a vague “good luck.” InRhythm has been the opposite in my experience. The company moves fast (it’s consulting — the pace is real!), but what stood out to me is that leadership actually pairs that pace with support and trust. I worked as an engineer with one of our clients to begin, and that was a great experience over all in my continuation of my backend engineering skills, but I want to highlight the internal side of the company, and what I've gained during my tenure here. The biggest growth catalyst for me has been through teaching and collaborating with other developers at their major financial clients; tons of hands-on, real-world coaching: building content, running sessions, supporting labs/office hours, and answering live questions from real teams in real time. That forced me to sharpen my technical fundamentals and my communication. I became a much stronger public speaker because I got consistent reps explaining complex ideas clearly, under pressure, to different audiences. On top of the client facing trainings I was a part of, there’s a steady drumbeat of internal learning opportunities (Lunch & Learns / “10x” sessions / lightning talks). If you have a topic you’re excited about, you’re encouraged to step up, share it, and leadership will help you get it on the calendar and in front of people (around 100k followers on LinkedIn as I write this, up from 60k when I started only a year and a half ago!). That kind of encouragement is rare — and it’s how you grow fast and level up as an engineer and as a person in general. The exposure you get to the public is just a cherry on top. What I also appreciate is the human side of leadership. When things get hectic (which happens), there’s an honest effort to protect focus time, help prioritize, and make sure you’re not getting pulled in ten directions without support. I’ve directly experienced leaders stepping in to buffer noise, unblock issues, and keep priorities clear. Fast-paced, yes — but not careless. If you’re someone who wants to keep learning, build real things, and also grow the “soft skills” that actually matter (communication, teaching, executive presence), InRhythm has been a great place to do that. You are given full autonomy and trust over your work and the ability to work with any tech stack you would like to.

There is not much to say on this front, but as any consultation company can be, it sometimes is a tad stressful when your client engagement may be coming to a close job security wise, but InRhythm does a phenomenal job of continuing to place you with other clients even if one contract comes to a close. I was offered over 3 different positions as soon as my first client engagement came to a close!

If you cut-and-run, there will be no one left to remember in less than three months and you can keep this stain off your resume.

A bottom-tier revolving-door talent agency posing as a consultancy operated by the type of exploitive grifters who offered you that modeling gig 15 years ago. Don’t take it. You will not be respected. Your input will not be respected. Your work will not be respected. Your work will be scarcely understood by those handing it down. You will be expected to compensate for this shortcoming by performing whatever they incorrectly believe the work to be. If you are a senior software engineer and they tell you they want a senior software engineer, they don’t want you. What they actually want is maybe the only job that *should* be offloaded to AI agents. A fake-results generating yes-bot producing 3kloc/mo of incomprehensible dreck until the client pulls the project out from under everyone because of the sheer quantity and expense of work wasted to produce nothing. These people will waste your time and talent enough to drive you to a sabbatical, and you’ve put up with some crazy work Don’t fall for their lies.
