I met some amazing people that I consider friends and hope to stay in contact with. When I started, the company seemed like a friendly place that genuinely cared about its people.

-I was vastly underpaid for all the high-quality work I was consistently producing, especially when other team members received significant pay increases. -Rigid management that brushes off concerns and feedback in favor of getting as much work done as possible in as short a time as possible and still expecting the same quality and no mistakes. -Forced to use ChatGPT to produce a majority of my work on a daily basis, which felt fraudulent. -Zero support from leadership in the form of hiring an additional team member to help with an increasingly heavy workload (company was very quick to start hiring for my replacement, however). -Lack of encouragement from leadership in favor of only pointing out issues and mistakes, which made me question whether I was doing my job well and conditioned me to anticipate criticism at any time. -Zero acknowledgment from leadership of my accomplishments, dedication, and significant contributions to multiple award-winning projects. -Being given the title of “senior” and expected to do more while making less than junior wages. -Having some of my project deadlines cut in half by management without prior consultation (while they preached about good communication). -Being expected to produce more and more work under ever-tightening (and frankly, unrealistic) budget constraints.

I would like to express my most sincere apology for you leaving our employ without the benefit of an exit interview. Exit interviews are an important and standard part of our operation and, unfortunately, my communication with your supervisor regarding another situation was confusing and lead her to believe that I had your exit interview scheduled. This was my mistake and, as a result, we will build in safety measures to make certain that this does not happen again. Early on the Monday morning following your Friday departure, I realized that this mistake was made and reached out to you via your personal email and cell phone hoping to connect. While I have not heard back from you, I COMPLETELY understand that you do not have any obligation to chat, especially after learning that you took the time to express yourself here. While I respect your viewpoints and truly believe that you have the right to such, I have to disagree with most. I only wish that we had the opportunity to talk these through, but that was my mistake. I’m still very willing to chat should you be interested. In the case that you choose not to connect further, I wanted to clarify the comment you made regarding ChatGPT. As an organization we have been extremely careful when integrating AI into our processes and operations. The goal has always been to “move the start line closer to the finish line” so that the very routine, perhaps mundane aspects of your role could be handled and that the time spent by you was available for your high level thought and creativity. At no time have we ever created systems or endorsed use of AI without guidance and great oversight. Regular meetings and discussions on this topic happen regularly within the agency (and will continue) so that we can continue to create policies and procedures that allow for ethical, high level work that truly benefits the client. We recognize that AI is an extremely fluid space and that we need to continue to evaluate and build processes that evolve in parallel with modern technologies. While your other comments are extremely important to me and you, I’m choosing not to address them here as doing such could delve into personal issues that are just that…personal and should be kept private. I will say though, that I am sorry you feel this way. I am extremely grateful for everything that you did while here at InTouch, enjoyed every moment I shared with you. As I said in our email exchange on your last day, your hard work is appreciated, others will benefit from your efforts, and InTouch is better because of such. I wish you the absolute best in all that you do.

Your experience is what you make of it, and if you come into the organization expecting all the answers to be handed to you or expect to not be accountable to results I think you’ll be disappointed; however, if you’re solution oriented and have integrity to do what’s right and put forth the effort that’s expected even when no one’s looking you’ll find yourself recognized and rewarded.
