-Company has no concept of adapting to new business models -->The company's primary events are networking, but because of this it's hard to get speakers to agree to go. Because of the lifecycle, it's hard to get solid gov't speakers, so more often than not you have lawyers speaking on gov't issues. Also, because these are seen mostly as networking, you have the issue of panels being ignored in order for attendees to network. it's a giant hot mess. -->Instead of adapting into new fields in a timely manner, the company keeps banking on the same events and the same type of events. And, when the company does attempt to branch out, it's never to new and developing fields, it's old and stagnant ones that can't turn a profit. -No real growth -->I was hired on as a Project Coordinator, but was a glorified personal assistant to the owner of the company. Instead of being trained to assist the VP, Operations (like I was hired to), the VP quit, they hired a project manager, and moved me to a different department. -->The only real growth in the company is lateral: you could go from one department to another, and every so often a manager position might open up, but the company more often tried to hire out for that, instead of promoting from within. Also, if you were ever "promoted," you were not given a raise, just a title change and a "trial period" where you would do the work of a higher paid position, without actually receiving pay.
