The only real positive is that a few colleagues genuinely care and try to support one another. The mission of helping patients access clinical trials sounds good on paper, but that is where the positives end.

This is one of the most toxic and emotionally draining workplaces I have ever experienced. Leadership is chaotic, reactive, and disconnected from reality. Expectations are constantly changing, goals are unclear, and employees are blamed when leadership decisions inevitably fail. There is no sense of long-term planning or stability, which creates constant anxiety across teams. Burnout is not the exception here — it is the norm. Excessive workloads and unspoken expectations to work long hours are embedded in the culture. Saying “no” or setting boundaries is quietly penalised. People are pushed until they break, then replaced without reflection or accountability. The culture is intimidating and, at times, openly bullying. Feedback is encouraged only when it aligns with leadership narratives. Raising concerns or challenging decisions puts a target on your back. Psychological safety does not exist, and trust is eroded quickly. Human resources offers little to no protection. Confidential matters are not treated confidentially, and serious issues are minimised or ignored. Instead of acting as a safeguard for employees, they function as an extension of leadership, leaving staff feeling exposed and unsupported. Overall, this environment takes a real toll on mental health and self-confidence. Many talented people leave disillusioned, exhausted, and questioning their abilities, not because they weren’t capable, but because the system is fundamentally broken.
