Vantaggi
INOVA employs some of the kindest, most competent nurses I've ever worked with. They advocate for their patients and go above and beyond to meet their needs. The nurses are experienced, hard-working and attentive to detail. The benefits that INOVA provides (i.e. health insurance, 401k with employer contributions, financial assistance for education costs) are excellent.
Svantaggi
Without question, the salary is terrible when compared to the tremendous amount of work involved in patient care. Most of the departments involved in direct patient care are overworked, under-paid and under-staffed. Understandably, this is a nation-wide issue not isolated to INOVA, but that does not let them off the hook. The management is more focused on patient satisfaction scores than on employee well-being. There are virtually no opportunities for advancement or promotion without additional education/degrees/certifications/etc. In other words, advancement is based on whether or not you have a degree, and not based on merit or how well you do your job. Additionally, INOVA owns a significant number of the hospitals in Northern VA, so options for healthcare employment elsewhere are severely limited.
