Svantaggi
Negotiating a salary for higher pay as a PRN/contractor is difficult because what they don't tell you is that they do not guarantee a set amount of hours per week. So even if they verbally tell you that it will be about 20-30/hrs a week, unless you get it in writing, it will be determined on if there is work for you or not. You're either PT/FT or PRN, there isn't anything in between; and as PRN you do not qualify for any benefits, or PTO accruals, and contracts are "at-will", so they can cancel at anytime without notice. This makes everything very one-sided, as you have to make yourself available for up to 20-30/hrs a week, but with no guarantees of compensation for hours unworked, so you can't really hold a second job. Inova culture is also toxic. You either learn to turn your face to ethical problems that arise and succeed in your job, or you try and address these concerns through the proper channels, and quickly find out that nothing changes except that you are now the pot-stirer. Because they have a "no-retaliation" policy, you won't get fired, instead they'll push you out by constantly challenging your morality and forcing you to choose. Management is typically uninvolved, unexperienced, and not concerned with employee happiness and success, but rather their productiveness. Pay raises never meet or exceed cost of living increases, and most departments offer very limited career development, so expect to stay at the same title for years because they will not add additional titles to recognize your contributions and growth.
