Vantaggi
Good amount of PTO. Location was nice, building and facilities nice, air conditioned plant was comfortable. Easy job since the machines mostly run on bar feeders. Training time was good, there wasn’t a rush to be trained and moved to your permanent shift. Same with me training someone, they didn’t try to rush the training and wanted the person being trained to be mostly self sufficient.
Svantaggi
You will get singled out if management does not like you. I got written up for making a Holiday calendar for our shift (written up for “editing company documents”). Then when my 2nd child was born, they did not like me using the intermittent bonding FMLA (that they approved). Constantly trying to make me jump through hoops, despite the company handling FMLA saying what they were telling me I had to do was not required. Other employees on intermittent FMLA had nothing said to them about scheduling / notifying of use. HR manager was constantly hounding me about it, and even told me to “Just shut up and listen” on a phone call with her about it. Management would also not take advice about shift days / times. They took some shift differential pay from our entire shift and tried to play it up like we were going to get more money, but didn’t like when I brought up that we were only going to get paid more because they had us scheduled an extra 4 hours per pay period, and that our hourly pay was technically going down since we weren’t getting full time shift differential any longer. No phones allowed in production area, paired with 12hr shifts made for a long day. Management would also get on to you for being outside your area, even if your machine with a 3hr run time was actively running. They also refuse to tell you pay ranges on the positions, so you never know if you are being underpaid compared to coworkers. They were very preferential on raises and who got information that was helpful.
