      I work at Alta View Hospital, and besides the ungodly hours we work at smaller pay than the rest of the Salt Lake Valley, The OR team is friendly, fun, and work together.       Pretty good benefits. Intermountain offers a pension, which is nice. Also, pretty much everyone who works in the Alta View OR is friendly and willing to help or teach. Very welcoming staff. We are also offered time-and-a-half for working overtime.

      Small pay. Smaller than the rest of the valley. And even though the OR has many surgeries most days, there is only one shift scheduled, so the staff are also assigned to stay late on certain days, as well as take call. When you are on call, you stay until all the surgeries scheduled or added on are finished, even if that means that you worked from 7AM to 1AM nonstop. And sometimes they will still expect you to show up at 7AM for work the next morning after a shift like that.

      There are many mission-driven caregivers who genuinely care about patients and want to provide high-quality behavioral health support. I appreciated the opportunity to work in an area connected to telehealth, crisis response, and access to care. The work itself can be meaningful, and I believe many employees are trying to do the right thing for patients and communities.

      In my experience, the department culture was not psychologically safe. Feedback and performance concerns were not handled in a way that was clear, consistent, or supportive. I left feeling that the performance process was more punitive than developmental, and I did not feel meaningfully supported by leadership or HR during a difficult employment transition. The experience affected my emotional well-being and made me much more cautious about workplace culture and management practices.
