There seems to be a toxic dynamic among the highest level of leadership that is having a ripple effect throughout departments. C-suite executives seem to be competing, rather than collaborating, for attention, credit, personal gain, power, etc. In the last couple of years, there has been little tolerance for respectful dissent. With a large number of layoffs and strange, sudden firings of outstanding leaders, I am often afraid to express my opinions and just try to fly slightly under the radar. I used to want to pursue opportunities at higher levels in the organization, but it seems as though many who do end up getting terminated when there is a leadership transition, regardless of historical performance. I love my work and my team and wish there was less political maneuvering distracting me. I believe I will need to change companies when I'm ready to take on new challenges.
