There are many exceptionally talented engineers, with whom it is a pleasure and education to work. Travel is often available. Many opportunities are present at the various operating sites.
Svantaggi
The major engineering sites are unionized, and all the bad paradigms are present. The management - union relationship is by definition antagonistic, so there is a lot of petty bickering about who can do what work, overtime, profit sharing, etc. The result is a divided engineering group, with each function in its silo, not communicating with any others. The engineering group is inflexible, slow, and misguided.
