I worked at International Playthings for a short time and I quickly realized after I was hired that I had made a mistake. There was something wrong with this company. The workforce was mostly good, competent people. The problem with this company was that management was ineffective, divided, and extremely negative. The president of the company was an egomaniac whose management philosophy was “Do your job my way or get fired.” He was constantly at odds with the company vice-presidents and openly argued with them. The VP’s would then go behind the president’s back and gave contradictory directions to employees. The employees were afraid to say anything because they did not want to be fired. There was no leadership in this company. The only reason that I worked at this company was that I had been laid off from my previous company and I needed a job. I soon realized that this was the case with most other employees. This seemed to be management’s hiring strategy so they could pay as little as possible. Thank God that I found a job with a good company that is highly successful and treats their people right.
