Vantaggi
Paid time off about 5 weeks. 401k, health insurance, diverse clientele and some of the most dedicated caseworkers. Working here looks impressive on your resume but don’t stay over a year. Everyone gets a 3% yearly regardless if you go above and beyond in your job or just show up to clock in. Most positions are paid hourly, so you can get overtime if they approve of it.

Management doesn’t care about staff. You can only succeed in the IRC if you’re white or friends with upper management. They hire interns all the time to do real work and take care of cases since they don’t want to add staff or increase existing staff salaries. Most of the money goes to the upper management salary. Clear discrimination and favoritism especially in the New York office. The headquarter is almost disconnected from the resettlement office, they don’t provide any support when an issue is brought up to them. They would just dismiss you. Getting reimbursed for anything you spend your own money on is a nightmare that sometimes I just don’t fill out that form and go through hoops to get $20 or so back. They rarely approve overtime and when you ask for it because you need to finish important work, they will bully you into thinking that you don’t know how to manage your time while in fact you need staff hired in your team to run smoothly but they give you clueless intern that you are supposed to train and have them work like a paid staff. They encourage free labor
