company-wide community service projects the majority of the employees are incredibly kind-hearted the CEO, Matt McConnell, has a great heart and the best intentions but hires friends to the detriment of the company

Svantaggi

Before I started I was so excited by what I was "sold" during the interview process: a chance to make a difference, unlimited PTO, 5 paid community service days and cool technology. What was there not to love? All that glitters isn't gold. Intradiem is a company that uses a "servant's heart" to hide internal favortism, nepotism, minimal appreciation for employees, passive aggressive leadership, and a faulty product. There have been several times where either myself or co-workers have gone to seek medical treatment only to be told that our medical/dental/vision benefits were inactive and we either had to pay out of pocket and then be reimbursed or cancel the appointment until Intradiem could straighten out the insurance discrepancies. It often feels as though leadership has no idea what they're doing and are constantly throwing stuff to the fan to see what sticks, they're also notorious for taking ideas from their team only to steal all the credit. The new President/COO is unapproachable, rather egotistical, demeaning and practices regular nepotism. He's hired so many friends (some qualified, some not so much) that it's become a running joke in the office that "he has a friend to replace all of us" The VP, HR is not knowledgeable about HR policies and procedures and everyone in the office seems to know it with the exception of his managers. He has mishandled several serious HR issues and regularly broadcasts confidential employee information loudly throughout the office. I've overheard him talk about everything from salaries to employee medical information to letting someone go with his office door open. Going to HR has always been a safe place in any other company I've been in. I don't waste my time here because I don't want the entire company to know my private information and I don't trust that he knows what he's doing or that the issue will be handled properly. If I had an HR issue, I sadly had no one internally to turn to. They do not promote from within nor do they develop their employees for the next step in their career; there is minimal growth opportunity. Only join the company if you're unemployed or really need the money. Other than that, hold out for a better opportunity.

As part of the management team, I feel I have a duty to respond to you. First, I am sorry that your situation put you in a position you didn’t feel you were able to discuss your issues with anyone on the management team. While from your post it was unclear if you are a current or past employee , it would have been beneficial to all if you would or had come forward and shared your concerns. Open conversation is the only way to get to the truth and ultimately make Intradiem a better company. I would have hoped that there was a manager, at some level, that you could have confided in to reduce the stress you were feeling. Second, we try, whenever possible to promote from within. In the past year, we have promoted 4 developers from senior developers to team managers. We have also promoted folks within our PMO group as well. Many times, as a rapidly growing technology company, urgency drives you to hire for the skill set needed and does not provide you the opportunity to wait until someone is ready to move into a new role. Third, related to medical treatment that you said was turned down. As you and all our employees know, we are in a PEO relationship with a third party that both negotiates our policies and pays the premiums. They did indeed miss a payment, which did cause stress to some of our employees. However, once we found out about it, it was corrected immediately. Further, as everyone in the company is aware, we are moving to a direct relationship with a more traditional health insurance program, which will alleviate these issues going forward. Lastly, regarding the personality differences you have stated regarding the President & COO and the VP, HR, I can only comment that both have been open to any and all constructive criticism related to their jobs.
