Vantaggi
After spending many years in the corporate rate race where I often felt like a number instead of a unique person, JLab thankfully took a chance on me and got me out of a toxic environment. The management team was patient with me as I learned the craft, along with exposing me to some pretty amazing experiences such as CES in Las Vegas. The team the CEO has built around himself is incredibly talented yet very humble and hungry for greatness. There was never an ounce of envy/jealousy/backstabbing that I often saw in previous companies. The office environment is everything you could ask for- large, open spaces that allow for collaboration, while allowing everyone to show their authentic personalities through their clothes/workspace/etc. Weekly teambuilding meetings to improve the culture or overall brand were common, as well as quarterly outings or BBQs. In March of 2020 we pivoted the company to work 100% remotely through Microsoft Teams. The trust and guidance that the CEO gave throughout the pandemic was reassuring as we were consistently reminded that our jobs are safe and we will get through it together, as a team. Needless to say- this was an incredible experience that I will use as a benchmark to compare all CEOs and office environments going forward.
Svantaggi
Very small team so getting in is extremely difficult. Though as the company inevitably grows I'm certain more and more positions will open up. At times in the office it was difficult to concentrate on the task at hand because there is simply a ton of distraction available to you- for the person who needs a quiet space away from the group, please be sure to mention this early on with the CEO and he will go out of his way to create a suitable area for you I have no doubt. For myself, it was a matter of putting on noise-cancelling headphones (JLab of course) and utilizing a tunnel vision mentality.
