Vantaggi

The tea is fantastic (both literal and figurative) Lots of motivation to improve your life and get out as quickly as possible

Svantaggi

I was part of team Breeze in Juspay. A little background: At Juspay, people who can't make it in good teams get filtered out, put into PIP and are demoted to a less desirable team (since they don't like to fire people). When you keep getting demoted again and again, at some point you'll finally reach rockbottom: Team Breeze This team is a circus where every trick ends in disappointment. Vision? We can't plan the next hour before some or the other critical service goes down and everyone's running around trying to figure out who to blame. Growth? If you count working as a call center employee as growth, then sure lots of growth here. Learning? Why bother learning when all your manager expects of you is to look at cline/chatgpt write every single line of code. You actually get punished for trying to write anything yourself and trying to learn anything beyond how to keep sucking up to your merchants, Culture? The culture is a manager posting micromanagement messages all day long expecting every single person to respond with an acknowledgement in fraction of a second. Anyone who doesn't respond in time, get ready for a special 1 on 1. Work Life Balance? Juspay already stretches the definition of hackathons with its part B interview which has been running the same question over 5 years now but the manager at Breeze takes it to the next level. A hackathon is a weekend sprint where everyone is expected to complete all the pending tickets by staying up for 48 hrs at the office. The reward: A slice of pizza. And don't forget to be on time for sync up on Monday. Technical Excellence? While Haskell sounds like an uber cool language to learn and code in, all it does is kill every last bit of will to live in its developers. And if you get some frontend work away from Haskell realm, the seniors have the exact same effect of sucking your soul where every PR review is a battle against logic and common sense. Recognition? Despite all this, if you still somehow manage to perform even a little better than the crowd, your reward is taking the burden of everyone else. Done with 1 task? Here's 10 more, because you're so good at this. While people who do nothing are rewarded with no tasks because they might break something and because people don't want to review their worthless PRs. Leadership? Finally, everything mentioned above is a glaring statement of failure of leadership in this team. The situation is so bad, the team actually fears whenever our manager raises a PR because it basically means long nights of debugging worthless AI code generated by Cline which break our services left and right. And the leadership acts blind to all of these issues as long as they get to do whatever stupid thoughts run around in their heads.
