I brought an MA in TESOL, a BA in English, a valid professional teaching license, a 170-hour TEFL certificate, and nearly a decade of elite global classroom experience (including 7 years in the United States, over 2 years in the MENA region, and 18 months as a PhD student in Malaysia). AI screening models rank my resume in the top 1% of global applicants. Yet, the moment the human gatekeepers at JadeClass processed my Black American identity, the professional mask slipped. They actively bait Black scholars on LinkedIn to harvest our high-caliber credentials, pad their databases, and showcase a "diverse talent pool" to investors, only to drop an automated rejection or pull the rug out via contract cancellation.The Rot of Mainland China Hiring: This isn't just an agency issue; it is a systemic national rot. The entire mainland hiring market is an arrogant, unvarnished meat grinder that prioritizes European aesthetics over actual pedagogy. They rigidly lock jobs behind a white-only barrier and then use corporate cowardice to blame "parent preferences" or "marketing demands." They are actively cheating their own paying students out of an elite education by replacing masters of pedagogy with uncredentialed white props.The 1% Exception: Unless you manage to secure a position in a microscopic 1% fraction of international schools within major tier-1 cities where qualifications actually override race, teaching in this country is an absolute trap for Black professionals. It’s wonderful to have genuine freedom in my schedule and the ability to work from anywhere, which makes balancing my personal and professional life so much easier. The pay is good, and I’m treated like a professional—no micromanagement, just trust and support. The staff are warm, welcoming, and always communicate openly, so I never feel uncertain about what’s expected. The teaching materials and overall structure here are genuinely effective, and you can see the students’ progress lesson after lesson. It’s deeply fulfilling to focus on helping them learn. Watching students grow more confident and capable is incredibly rewarding, and it reassures me that I’m making a real, positive impact on their education. Plus, there are clear opportunities for career advancement, which makes it easy to picture a long-term future with this school.

The school is open only on Friday–Sunday throughout the year (except during summer), so if you’re looking for full-time hours, you may feel somewhat limited by the weekend-focused schedule.
