Hi Dev 💻 👋 - What a succinct but very thorough commentary of your experience at Jane!
I just did a bit of an essay about Motivation on my reply to the review just after yours, and I think your points really nicely articulate how you are linking together what you find personally motivating with the enjoyment of your job.
It's wonderful to hear that it's meaningful to you that "clients love our product" and that you are also feeling valued by your peers, your manager and the company. This is really what we're striving to achieve! You also mentioned that you appreciate that finances are well-managed and the job stability that comes with that. You've hit the trifecta! ☘️Customer, Team and Company.
And I appreciate you sharing the inevitable friction points that exist for your particular role. I have been having some fascinating conversations about Monolith, Micro-Services, Domain Boundaries, Product Cohesiveness, and Code Base Structure with people across Jane. It's fascinating to see how these things change over time, and even how the experience for each of our "pods" of teams is slightly different depending on the part of the code base for which they are responsible. Code Base management is a forever project that's for sure.
And appreciate the mention of Ruby on Rails. I love how the definition of a "modern" language or framework changes so rapidly in Tech! You made me curious so I just went down a little rabbit hole learning about Django and Rails. Ha. Now I'm going to go learn more. Are you curious how AI is shifting the programming landscape? I am too. I'll just assume you must be.
Looking forward to continuing to build Jane with you - both the program and the company. Thanks for sharing your experiences here for others to read about. 💕
