Vantaggi
plenty of OT, 2.5x holiday pay, $38 starting, 18% 401k $20-$40 health insurance weekly
Svantaggi
strong pressure to do an impossible amount of work, e.g scheduled 50 hours of work done by two mechanics in a 6 hour time period. 70% of equipment is broken or barely functional(A/C jacks, oil browsers, ladders, creepers, torque wrenches). More jobs get cancelled due to no tools than any other reason. supervisor threatened write up for being safe/accusing mechanics of undocumented maintenance. You do not get radios or tablets you have to use unofficial documents to troubleshoot on gate calls. FAA visited everyday for two months due to violations. You are expected to whip simple task cards. Often you are working from 11pm to 7 am straight. You are not allowed to take PTO days off, each day off is an "occurrence" 3 occurrences is a write up. I made $3000 in a week before taxes working 7 days straight, I strongly felt that it is not worth the money due to the unreasonable stress. Jetblue culture is very hostile now
