Pay for performance means that Partners and their line managers tend to pay attention to professional development and productivity, creating a good collective work ethic.

Despite being better than the rest of the retail sector in this regard, there is still a very big difference in Partner experience dependent on where you sit in the food chain. Directors receive huge payouts when they retire, in addition to the private healthcare, car allowance, and generous salaries that they get during the course of their normal work year. Given that there is considerable penny pinching pressure on rank and file Partners, it does feel as though much of the fairness and equal treatment has been (and is being) eroded.
