Vantaggi

somewhat flexible environment, some of the benefits are rather good; such as vacation, do have a 401k

Svantaggi

Major disconnect with management. We have a H/R named People & Culture who wants to win "WA best place to work" and spends tons of time and energy studying and discussing the metrics. The most important metric left out of the study is why about 30% of the workforce has been managed out or has left in the past year. Net loss of about 20 workers remains out of less than 100 total. You can't have both- overall happiness never mind best happiness, when at the same time many people are afraid for their job or highly turned off by recent re-orgs. I think that previous mgmt. had some faults, no one is perfect, but a Management without empathy in a non-profit doesn't have much going for it. Salaries at the top are too high relative to others.

Vantaggi

Overall, this is a pretty great nonprofit org in Seattle and team members feel valued and generally have a balanced workload and appreciation of work-life balance. This org has Summer Fridays, where Friday afternoons are off in the summer. Everyone gets a free unlimited transit pass. People are friendly and everyone feels invested in the work that they are doing. Many employees have been with the org for 5, 10, or more years--and those people are some of the best colleagues I've encountered. It really says something that the org retained these wonderful people.

Svantaggi

The org has a history of being a bit siloed and very heavy on top-down management, which the culture is only beginning to change. Sometimes it seems like decisions are made in a bubble amongst the exec staff and when announced there is a shock to the rest of the staff. Also there is a feeling amongst employees that in general salaries and annual salary bumps may not be fully keeping up with inflation and the market rates amongst peer orgs.
