Vantaggi

The firm tries to be diverse and have diversity events. Um, they offer free Flavia coffee. A lot of internal trainings. The last couple of years, they have summer hours (get out at 3:00 on Fridays). 25 PTO days right away. Good if you are healthy. Not so good if you get sick.

Svantaggi

KPMG is a cold environment where everyone keeps to themselves. There is no team atmosphere although they try to promote it. Partners think they are GOD and treats everyone else like slaves. Marketing is typically the low man on the totem pole and have to do all the grunt work, no matter the title. Nothing productive ever gets done because of all the internal red tape and politics. I felt like all we did was "push paper" and never truly did anything of value. Their health insurance is lousy. Is it even subsidized? Felt like we were paying the full cost. Most partners are inconsiderate of their team's schedules. They think nothing of having conference calls in the late evenings. The marketing team is good, but it is the environment keeps them back. There is no creativity in marketing as it would not be firm approved. Also, no raises or bare minimum (like1-2%) for the last couple of years while they keep piling on the work, expectations, and the stress.

Vantaggi

You get to work with an awesome, highly resilient group of local peers in the advisory practice. The KPMG brand still holds value, but the internal team dynamics have become incredibly fractured.

Svantaggi

We have outsourced 80%+ of our Risk Advisory work, leaving onshore seniors with massive gaps in their experience. As a manager, I am stuck doing senior-level work because I typically have only one or zero local seniors or associates on my teams. The best leaders have already resigned because this model prevents actual management and mentoring. Also, it might take you 30+ years to become partner in Risk Advisory, if at all.
