Most of your co-workers will be good people. They are willing to assist within the best of their abilities and are just trying to get the job done. The health insurance is affordable. The 401K match is average.

The company is cheap with their first line employees. You can do everything right, make all the metrics and still get 1% raise for the year. If you decide to work here, negotiate a high starting salary, because you may be there for a while. No performance bonuses. Very little effort to motivate or retain employees. If you have previously worked at an insurance company where they gave you appreciation gifts like company T-shirts or office lunches, don't expect that at Kemper. Don't even expect a "good job" email. Staffing is run on a shoestring. The workload is so heavy to begin with that when someone goes out on leave or quits (and this happens a lot), their claims are reassigned and everyone is beyond overwhelmed. This causes more adjusters to go out on leave or quit. Customers complain that there have been so many different adjusters on their claim. It will not be possible to do all your work by their deadlines, but they won't take this into account when they do quality audits. Claims systems/resources are difficult to use. The different insurance companies acquired by Kemper still have their own systems and procedures. So you have to keep track of several different systems, resources and processes for each different company. Some systems are old and it's hard to find anything. You may also be working several different states.
