Vantaggi
I was given a paycheck every two weeks.
Svantaggi
There is no path to advancement and the only thanks offered for hard work is a longer to-do list while mediocre employees are rewarded with less responsibility for the same pay. Compensation is not even close to competitive. There was a time when medical benefits were fully covered by the university and one could expect a reasonable performance raise every year. Now, the employee contribution for benefits goes up 5% every year and you're lucky to get a 2% pay increase. That doesn't make this a very attractive place to work when the starting salary is already 40% less than you could expect for a similar job role. Unless one had five kids to put through college, it's just not worth it. Every former colleague that I've spoken with since leaving has said the same thing. "It's so much better on the outside."
