Senior management is untrustworthy, fickle, and handcuffs functional managers in their ability to make decisions to improve organizational culture or productivity. Micromanagement is thorough, complete, and changes on a whim.
They under-staff coders to meet quotas that are unrealistic, and promise results to customers without consulting the managers of those who are doing work to see if the promises are even reasonable.
Then promise incentives to workers to meet the unreasonable promises that vary in how out of touch they are, (work extra hours and you get to wear JEANS!) or (double over time!!!) then claim they never promised double overtime after you worked 20 hours over the weekend.
Management is constantly making behind the back apologies to staffers for unilateral decisions made by upper management because they know how out of touch with reality the demands and lies are.
