I started working at KC in 2018. At this time, the company was well-organized, and there was good representation for the foreign teachers in the head office. There were great relationships between the admin and teachers, and overall it was a great place to work. However, by the time my first contract was done, the company had gone quite downhill. A lot of admin had left the company, and there were questions as to the nature of these resignations. I only signed a second year contract because I needed the money.

I ultimately resigned from the company because I couldn't put up with its awful management anymore. The school branch I worked at was great, but there were so many more things wrong with the company. The head of the department does not know how to do her job, there was constant power struggle between employees, the entire head office was incompetent and disorganized, and salaries were always being paid wrongfully or simply being withheld (which is illegal). Every month salaries would not be paid properly, and would really only be fixed if a "higher-up" was involved (and that was only if they liked you). When I resigned, there was illegal withholding of salary, and the head of the department's reasoning for this was that she "never agreed to it." The contracts and handbook clearly outline the salary that is to be given depending on how many years you have worked there, and she had no written documentation deviating from these guidelines. And because she is the head of the department, there is no one above her, so I ultimately never received my money. I also worked overtime through my Chinese New Year holiday (as this was the beginning of the pandemic and there was much uncertainty). I was never compensated for my time, nor were any of the other supervisors who worked through their holiday. This company does not adhere to the rules and regulations it instills in its contracts and handbooks. Rather, they make it up as they go, resulting in mismanaged time and salaries. So, if you're good with not getting the money you worked for, and working way too hard for the money you're not going to get, then this place is good for you. You should just save yourself the headache and apply to other companies.
