Vantaggi
There is so much to learn due to the nature of the business. It is a true start-up and you get so much exposure to all facets of the business because of that. Solomon and Chhay are incredibly smart and very passionate about making the business work. The people are very fun and company outings are frequent enough and generally very fun. Because the team is lean, you get very close with everyone and most of the team is great. They do a great job of setting goals for us to meet, and ensuring we can reach them.
Svantaggi
The hours here are excruciating and you will be chastised if you even think about leaving early. Most weeks, I work around 80 hours and don't often get to completely unplug on the weekends. Favoritism is very clear and if you are not "in" you will not have much opportunity for growth or to have your ideas heard. I don't see anyone moving vertically or laterally, and I don't think they have any interest in promoting any of us or giving us the opportunity to move to different teams or move up in our own positions. There are a number of people on the team who do very little but get quite a bit of recognition, sometimes even stealing others' credit which is frustrating. Employee morale is low overall because of the culture of the company which can be hard. I would also like to note that we were all forced to write reviews on here a while back to boost the rating and therefore most are disingenuous because we felt pressured to write nice things. There are a few upsides but quite a few downsides. It's a tough place which can be good when people are celebrated and appreciated, but I have never once felt appreciated during my tenure here. I know we are a startup but with how much we work, we should fell appreciated and secure. One team here completely crumbled because no one on the team could stand it any longer and nothing has really been done about it. There is a system of micro-management that is very, very overwhelming and stifling. I would really recommend looking elsewhere for a more fulfilling job that allows you to have a life outside of the workplace and where you could receive fair pay.
