Vantaggi
-Good hours -Work outside -Free park admission (to all Cedar Fair parks) -Friends -Free tickets (4 free for first year associates, 6 free for returning associates. Discounted tickets after free ones are used.) -Food & merch discounts -Meet guests and associates from all around the world. -Usually a flexible schedule -End of season bonus if you worked the whole season (depending on your department). -Associate cafeteria with inexpensive food.
Svantaggi
-Rude and entitled guests -Having to work all weekends and holidays (unless you're allowed to request off). -Canteen is too far away for people who work at the bottom of the park. (However they said they are working to address this issue for the 2017 season!) Pertaining to the merchandise department: -Some stores have little to no AC when they were not designed to be that way- HOT. -Area Managers and Area Supervisors have their favorites. If you're not one of them don't even waste your time trying to get promoted. -Rewards laziness, incompetence and brown nosing above actual hard work (read previous point). -Promotes associates to team leads and head supervisors before they have enough experience over the people that do (read previous two points). -Discriminates against older adults in the department (promoting a less competent young one over a more competent older adult- who to the department's benefit would be able to work the full season because they wouldn't have to return to school). -Lack of communication between Area Supervisors. -Often overworked when the department is understaffed (because the turnover rate is so high). -Because of the seasonal position KD is not legally obligated to provide overtime compensation or benefits, and they do not. -General illogical decisions made by Area Managers and Area Supervisors. -Can be a bit of a commute depending where you live. Makes for minimal sleep if you are overworked (like I mentioned above...) [Close/open or close/double/open shifts, 3-5 hours of sleep a night etc...] But I guess some of that could fall under illogical/idiotic scheduling as well.
