I would like to respond to the points raised in the previous review, as they closely reflect my own experience working at this horrible Kumon centre While it is true that many of the instructors and staff are kind and supportive towards one another, the overall working environment is extremely challenging due to the centre manager’s conduct and management style. There is a clear abuse of power and excessive micromanagement, which has directly contributed to a very high staff turnover. On multiple occasions, the manager mocked staff members’ accents and commented negatively on their English, without offering any constructive guidance or support. This behaviour was distressing and felt discriminatory rather than developmental. It also created an uncomfortable and demoralising atmosphere for staff whose first language is not English(His first language is not English either) The centre was consistently understaffed and overwhelmingly busy Despite this, the manager and his 'partner' were often seen standing aside and chatting with parents during class hours, while instructors managed the workload and cared for the children. Additional duties were frequently assigned outside of the original job description, without training, recognition, or compensation. This further increased pressure on staff and contributed to burnout. During my time there, several employees left within a short period, all due to the same management issues. Regarding HR support, I found it extremely disappointing. When concerns were raised, there was little to no meaningful follow‑up. After leaving the role, access to my work email was immediately removed, yet HR requested “evidence” of the manager’s behaviour, placing an unrealistic burden on former employees and effectively discouraging complaints. Overall, this was the most toxic working environment I have experienced. The combination of bullying, discrimination, micromanagement, and lack of HR support made it a very difficult and upsetting place to work. Until these issues are properly addressed at a management level, I would not recommend this centre as a healthy workplace.
