Vantaggi

Awesome staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly and will bend over backwards to accommodate you. Very espectful and understanding. Opportunities for advancement and built-in pay raises tied to further education, as well as free Bridging the Gap certification for all interpreters.

Svantaggi

As a per diem job, hours are fluctuating and can never be guaranteed. Since you aren't staffed by hospitals but by an agency, you have several appointments at various locations which means you have to include buffer times between appointments (which can't be billed for) to allow for travel and unforseen circumstances. These are things related to the nature of agency interpreting, and are not the fault of the organization.

Vantaggi

LAMP was very enjoyable. The people working there are very nice. It’s a good place to gain professional experience.

Svantaggi

Not too many opportunities to network since the office is small in numbers

Vantaggi

-They seem to hire almost anyone willing to work. -Many of the interpreters are kind. -It's a pleasure meeting people from similar backgrounds daily. -We get paid for mileage, but this comes out to significantly less pay than our hourly wage.

Svantaggi

-Every interpreter has a second or third job. -The hours are "flexible" but sometimes you have gaps in between appointments. So you might get paid 4 hours to work one day, but with the gaps in between appointments, you will be out of your home for 6 or 7 hours. -You find out what hours you work a day or two before the day you have to work. -Some days you work one hour, some days you work more. Not consistent. -You get no health benefits. You get NO PTO. -You may work very intense cases, and minimal mental health support is offered. -They do pay mileage, but you will waste many more hours driving around when you have large gaps between appointments. -They have unpaid opportunities for training, but in this economy, that's very difficult to do. So it is very hard to grow within the company.
