Vantaggi
Good people on the clinical side. Very passionate and caring nurses, doctors and therapists. The frontline people build an incredible rapport with patients and families. They keep this place moving. Nice place to work if you're on the clinical side. Beautiful outpatient center that sits on Lake Michigan and a whimsical inpatient unit that's great for kids and families.
Svantaggi
This was such a draining job. First of all, the pay was garbage, and insurance premiums are steep and pretty lackluster. No 403b (retirement) match until you've been employed a full year. Also, it doesn't matter if you're salaried: some managers will clock watch and rigidly set start and end of day times. Commute was absolutely terrible particularly for those who rely on public transit (hope you're ready for at least a couple bus and train rides to get to work!) Sketchy with the hospital situated in a public park (cars broken into, wrecked and some wild drunks at the lakefront when the weather is nice) Can't rely on HR to protect employees. Horrible COVID-19 policies for staff (people coming in to the office who absolutely did not need to a couple months into the pandemic); benefits, merit raises and pay getting cut every year.
