- Opportunities for growth if you work hard, take on responsibility, and are patient. I started off as a field forester and was given ample opportunity to take on news tasks, develop professionally under a terrific supervisor, and was able to move up into my current role. It took patience and hard work, but most good things do.
- Very understanding of family needs. From the birth of my children, to family health issues, to COVID-related at-home schooling, LandVest has been very flexible and understanding of family needs.
- Good corporate governance. In the 8+ years I've been here, the corporate governance of LandVest has improved tremendously, and keeps getting better. The management team is top-notch and I've always found them to be open to employee questions, concerns and ideas.
- Ample flexibility. This probably isn't true for all positions at LandVest, but in my role, I have a lot of flexibility and independence (and thus responsibility) to grow business, take on new work, and pursue new opportunities.
- Good people! I've had the pleasure of working with dozens of people (virtually and in-person) throughout the company (both Timberland and Real Estate) in all of our regions. Just about every interaction has been good. The few people I had negative interactions with have since moved on. We're all a little different, with different quirks, strengths and weaknesses, life experience, and things we bring to the table. But those differences are what make businesses strong.

I travel a fair amount, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. It took some getting used to early in my career here, but I have adapted and actually enjoy it now. If you take a Timberland position that says that travel is required, you will have to travel.
