Landgate has transitioned from a ‘doing’ knowledge leader, to primarily an ‘outsource focused’ contract management agency, with some concerns regarding leadership, vision, and on-the-ground knowledge after high staff losses. The remaining staff managing the contracts appear to no longer fully understand or consider customer needs and desires. The reality for the agency is that it appears to have lost a core group of its customers, and the current structural changes and limited resources have hindered their ability to service them going forwards. A consistent perceived lack of responsiveness to customer needs seem like clear indicators of issues that the company should address urgently. The work environment falls far short of expectations and has been a challenging workplace experience. There is a perceived toxicity that is concerning. Additionally, there appear to be issues with limited opportunities for personal and professional growth, and the lack of inspirational leadership by example, which leaves much to be desired. The work seems based on unrealistic expectations, a lack of recognition and reward, conflicts, and distrust which further contribute to the challenges. Moreover, the agency seems to be extremely busy, yet its overall effectiveness is lacking, leaving it in a challenging position. The culture seems to support behavior that caters to managers, while managers seem to show little concern for staff below them. The HR department displays a management style that can be perceived as old fashioned, autocratic, and unforgiving, and at times giving excessive attention to petty matters, while neglecting to address more serious and significant issues. It appears that there is an overall sense of mistrust toward the staff. This approach may not resonate well with younger generations. There are signs that suggest an attempt to influence the narrative and employee perceptions, which some may find lacking in genuineness and authenticity. At times, the discrepancy between words and actions and a lack of transparency appears perplexing. Overall, it appears that the morale of the employees is quite low. It is apparent that the agency does not deliver a positive experience both internally for its staff and externally for its customers. I would encourage exploring other job opportunities. It is my belief that no amount of compensation is worth enduring in such a workplace environment.
